I am currently an Assistant Professor in School of Information Systems of Singapore Management University, pursuing social network mining and web mining research in relation to Living Analytics Research Centre. Previously, I worked as a Scientist at Data Mining department of A*STAR's Institute for Infocomm Research. There, I helped start and oversee the ARISE project, a collaborative research effort with UIUC and its Singapore presence (ADSC). I also spent two wonderful years in California at Search Labs, a lab headed by Rakesh Agrawal in Microsoft Research Silicon Valley. The lab has an intensive focus on improving the Bing search engine through innovative research. I first learnt the craft of research at School of Computer Engineering of Nanyang Technological University, earning PhD and BEng (1st Class) degrees along the way. My PhD thesis focused on mining social networks from user-generated content.
