Samuel Smucker has been named Managing Director of the Advanced Digital Sciences Center at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Samuel Smucker has been named Managing Director of the Advanced Digital Sciences Center at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Smucker joins ADSC from the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he was the Coordinator for Graduate Studies and Sponsored Research. He assumed his new position on June 24. His responsibilities include managing the activities of ADSC in Illinois and coordinating the interaction of Illinois faculty with the Singapore-based research and educational programs. He will oversee publicity and outreach in Illinois and assist the Director, Marianne Winslett, in furthering the ambitious research and educational agenda of ADSC. In addition to an understanding of the traditions and policies of the University of Illinois, Smucker has a broad knowledge of University campus units and processes.

Smucker is currently a student in the M.B.A. program in the College of Business at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also serves as a member of the Champaign County Board representing a district that covers much of the University of Illinois campus.
