ADSC InternshipsADSC accepts applications year-round from strong students in computer science and computer engineering. Designed for students who are considering or pursuing a career in research, ADSC's internships offer the opportunity to contribute to an ongoing cutting-edge research project while building professional connections. ADSC interns collaborate closely with on-site ADSC graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, faculty, and/or external collaborators. Many of ADSC's interns become coauthors on publications or patent applications from the projects they join. Most ADSC undergraduate interns go on to excellent graduate programs in the U.S. or other countries. At the undergraduate level, ADSC is particularly interested in excellent students who are one year from graduation and are available for a 3-6 month internship, during any part of the year. At the Master's level, ADSC seeks students who are interested in going on to a Ph.D. and are available for 3-6 months. At the Ph.D. level, ADSC is especially interested in students for whom the internship work might form part of their dissertations, and who are available for 3-24 months. Ph.D.-level candidates who can be available for longer periods of time (1-2 years) can be supported under the A*STAR Research Attachment Programme (ARAP) Program. The ARAP Programme is a collaboration between A*STAR and overseas universities to provide research opportunities at A*STAR Research Institutes and Consortia, including ADSC. Under the program, Ph.D. students may spend one to two years at ADSC under joint supervision of the ADSC, the A*STAR Research Institute, and the students' home universities. The home university supervisor, ADSC supervisor, and A*STAR supervisor should jointly nominate the candidate to the A*STAR Research Institute's coordinator. The required information is available online. ADSC internships offer a unique opportunity for students from other continents to prepare for a career in research while enjoying tropical Asia. To assist, ADSC will apply for internship work permits for its interns who are not Singaporean citizens or permanent residents. To qualify for the permit, students must be enrolled in a degree program at the time that the internship begins. For example, a student who will complete his or her degree in May and start another degree program in September cannot obtain an internship work permit for June-August. (ADSC invites students who have recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree and will not immediately seek a higher degree to apply for ADSC's research-oriented software / hardware engineer positions.) To apply for an intern position, visit https://my.engr.illinois.edu/apply and select the internship option from the main menu. Applicants will be asked to submit:
